Mobility Extension

Become perfectly mobile

2N ME Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does 2N Mobility Extension (ME) do?

  • It increases your employees' availability outside their offices allowing them to use their mobile as an office extension.

2. Can the 2N ME replace DECT phones in a company?

  • Yes, you can do exactly that. Staff simply uses their mobile phones instead, without losing the benefits of their office extension functions.

3. I’ve seen similar products from my PBX manufacturer, why should I use yours?

  • Alternative ME products invoke a landline to mobile call which is about 5 times more expensive than using the 2N Mobility Extension. All company mobiles can work on a closed network which means that all calls to these users are free of charge. All call outside of the closed network bypass the costly landline to mobile interconnect charges through the unique use of GSM  technology.

4. How can I connect the 2N ME to a PBX?

  • 2N Mobility Extension connects in a number of ways. Depending on the model supplied you can use Analogue extension ports, BRI, PRI or SIP connectivity.

5. How many users can share one 2N ME?

  • Analogue 2N ME allows the connection of 2 to 48 2N ME users. BRI, PRI and SIP products can basically handle an unlimited number of users.

6. How many users can I have if I order 2 GSM channels only?

  • As many as you want up to 48. But remember that the more users you have, the more probable that the GSM channels will be busy and the call will not be able to reach the Mobility Extension required.

7. Is it necessary to reconfigure a PBX?

  • If all the 2N ME users have analog phones on their desks, then you don’t have to carry out any on switch programming. BRI, PRI and SIP 2N ME users will require simple on switch programming.

8. How do I connect company mobile users on a closed group?

  • Through the use of ON Net or VPN SIMS. VPN SIM cards practically cancel out any call costs associated with calling any of the users on the closed group and when you call within a group. The only cost associated is a minimal monthly rental fee of around £12 per month per sim depending on the network you are using.

9. What can I do if I require more than the simultaneous calls allowed through a single 2N ME device?

  • You can connect more than one device to your PBX.

10. Is it possible to purchase the minimum configuration now and increase the number of GSM channels or Mobile Users later?

  • Yes.

11. Do we really need a modem for remote access?

  • No, you don't. A modem isn’t essential but is very useful for you to have a remote access to the unit at anytime.

12. What "PBX services" can the user have on his mobile phone with the 2N ME?

  • For example, a second call, direct call, transfer, direct call transfer to a PBX extension, or DTMF switch off. All the functions must also be supported either by the GSM network or your PBX.

13. Can the 2N ME be connected to any PBX?

  • Yes, any PBX that offers Analogue Extension ports, BRI, PRI or SIP connectivity

14. Does the 2N ME work in the same way as call forwarding to a mobile phone?

It is similar but call forwarding has several disadvantages:

  • You don't have any functions of your extension in the mobile phone.

  • Call forwarding without a VPN SIM is very expensive.

  • With call forwarding you always have to answer your mobile phone instead of your office phone.

  • Unlike the 2N ME, with call forwarding you have to think of switching the function on and off.

  • There is no way how to access the PBX from your mobile phone safely.

15. What number can I see on a mobile display while receiving a call?

  • You can see the ME SIM card number. So you know nothing but that someone is trying to reach you in your office. This gives you a chance to decide whether or not to answer the call at the moment. SMS texts can be sent as alerts to missed calls and will give details of the origin number.

16. I already have a GSM Gateway and use call forwarding. What’s the difference?

You can use a GSM Gateway, however:

  • Phone ringing is not available on a land line and mobile at the same time.

  • You constantly have to switch on and off call forwarding (easily forgettable).

  • Once the call has reached your mobile you can’t apply your PBX feature set.

  • You can achieve the same savings as a “standard” GSM Gateway by using 2N ME, however 2N ME makes mobile using staff transparently available as a user of the telephone system anywhere with a GSM signal.
